American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVOR position at a large academic Level I Trauma Center, requiring cardiac, thoracic, and vascular scrub and circulate experience.

Details

• Work in the Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) of a large short-term acute care academic teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds
• Primary case types include cardiac and thoracic surgery, with additional cases including vascular (open and endovascular), transplant (liver, kidney, pancreas), and Whipple (pancreatic) procedures
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, with rotating start times of 0630, 0800, 0900, or 1100 as needed
• Monday through Friday with on-call and weekend call requirements per unit call policy
• On-call requirement averages 3–4 weekday and 1–2 weekend call shifts per 6-week schedule period, though this may vary based on unit needs
• Floating required within the cardiovascular service line to meet facility needs
• Holiday coverage required and discussed in advance
• Charting via Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or Compact RN license required; pending IL license may be acceptable (must be noted at time of consideration)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience required; candidates with 1 year of experience may be considered if that experience was gained at a Level I Trauma facility
• Scrub and circulate experience in cardiac, thoracic, and vascular cases required
• BSN preferred
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are considered only if they have more than 2 years of CVOR experience at a Level I Trauma facility
• Scrub color is navy
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Block scheduling is not available for this position
• Former permanent employees of BJC facilities must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers may remain at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
