American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Behavioral Health/Psychiatric position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital in St. Louis, MO, requiring Epic proficiency and both medical and psychiatric nursing experience.

• Inpatient Behavioral Health/Psychiatric unit within a large acute care hospital (1,259 staffed beds)
• Locked unit setting serving voluntary and involuntary adult patients (ages 18–64) with diagnoses including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, schizoaffective disorder, and substance use/chemical dependency (alcohol and opioid withdrawal)
• Patient population also includes intellectually/developmentally disabled individuals and those with co-occurring medical diagnoses (minor medical conditions, aggressive behaviors)
• When floating to other BH units, patient population includes older adults with conditions such as dementia, Parkinson's Disease, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and mobility issues; some patients require pre-op prep for ECT
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the behavioral health service line and to all BH units
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling is not available
• Charting via Epic (experience required)

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri required; pending IL license may be accepted for IL-based candidates
• Current BLS and CPI certifications required
• Minimum 1–2 years of RN experience required
• Both medical and psychiatric nursing experience required
• Experience with geriatric and inpatient populations required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Required clinical skills: medication administration (PO, rectal, IM, IV, SQ), IV insertion and maintenance, blood glucose monitoring, Foley catheter insertion and maintenance, insulin administration, colostomy care, insulin pump management, CPAP, and minor wound care
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

• Navy scrubs required
• Monthly parking passes are available through the facility's Public Safety department
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travelers may remain at this health system's facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
• Former permanent employees of this health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will be considered on a case-by-case basis via clinical screening interview
