American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a high-acuity Couplet Care (Mother/Baby) position requiring BLS and NRP certifications, with night shift scheduling and every other weekend availability.

Details

• Work setting is an inpatient hospital Couplet Care (Mother/Baby) unit
• High-acuity patient population including those with language barriers, substance use disorder, chronic pregnancy-related conditions, and HELLP syndrome
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3–4
• Specialized skills include Toco/US fetal monitoring, postpartum/newborn assessment, management of patients with substance use disorder, and care of high-acuity maternal/newborn couplets
• Equipment used includes Toco/US GE monitor, infusion pumps (including epidural), infant warmer, pulse oximetry, and blood glucose monitoring
• Epic EHR experience strongly preferred
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week, every other weekend required, major holidays required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating may occur within the Women's Life Department; floating to NICU is limited to feeder/grower assignments only

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA state or Compact) currently in hand
• Current BLS (American Heart Association) required
• Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required
• ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Recent OB, ED, or critical care experience preferred
• Experience attending deliveries preferred (non-circulating role)
• Antepartum training preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Epic EHR experience strongly preferred
• Candidate must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Proof of address required for consideration (acceptable documents: Driver's License, Voter Registration card, Federal Income Tax return, Military Form 2058, or W2 from US government)
• Full SSN and DOB (MM/DD) required for consideration
• 1 supervisory reference required
• Copy of certifications required
• Nursys license verification required

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include conducting patient assessments, developing and implementing individualized plans of care, administering medications, and coordinating with the interdisciplinary team
• Provides postpartum and newborn care including breastfeeding support and education, self/infant care teaching, discharge planning, and follow-up
• Performs electronic fetal monitoring, vaginal exams, and resuscitation and stabilization of the mother/fetal dyad
• Collaborates with care management teams such as Children's Protective Services, transfer centers, and pharmacies as needed
• BSN preferred
• Work environment may include periods of high stress, fluctuating workloads, exposure to human blood and infectious materials, and physical demands including lifting/carrying up to 100 lbs
• No EKG exam required
