American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a high-volume Level III trauma center, requiring a minimum of 3 years of large-volume ED experience and a comprehensive certification package.

Details

• Work in the Emergency Department of a 226-bed, Level III trauma center and non-profit community hospital
• 34-bed ED organized in zones, including a 13-bed fast track area ('green zone')
• High-acuity patient population ranging from neonates to geriatric, including pediatric medical and trauma, Level III trauma, stroke, cardiac (cath lab), behavioral health, and substance use disorder cases
• Busiest ED in the state, seeing 200–250 patients per day
• Patient ratio is 1:3–5 based on acuity
• 12-hour night shifts; primary shift time is 7p–7a, with various mid and evening shift options available
• Every other weekend rotation required, with occasional back-to-back weekends possible
• No floating required
• No on-call responsibilities
• EMR: Epic (strongly preferred)

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a large-volume, high-acuity ED
• Triage experience required; must pass the hospital's Triage Test before performing triage independently
• Proficiency in barcode scanning medication administration, medication drip management, and blood product administration
• Ability to set up chest tubes and arterial lines, assist with trauma and code cases, perform splinting, and manage BiPAP/ventilators
• Strong understanding of the ESI (Emergency Severity Index) triage system
• Pediatric emergency medicine experience highly preferred
• Point-of-care lab experience is a plus
• Epic EMR experience strongly preferred
• At least one supervisor-level reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above) required for consideration; a second reference will be needed prior to start

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include triage, medication administration, trauma and code assistance, and stabilization and transfer of high-acuity patients including neurosurgery, multi-system trauma, and high-acuity pediatric cases
• Stroke care includes administration of TNK
