American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Magnet-designated Level I trauma center in Decatur, IL, requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience.

Details

• 13-week contract on a night shift schedule (3x12 or 4x12 nights, 18:00–06:30)
• 18-bed Labor & Delivery unit within a 562-bed acute care hospital
• Patient population includes antepartum, high-risk antepartum, labor and delivery, LDRP, mother/baby, and Level I Nursery
• Facility delivers fewer than 100 births per month
• Floating is required for all travelers, within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate facility, including float to pediatrics based on need
• No on-call requirements
• No weekend requirements
• Charting is performed in Cerner (experience preferred)
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• Scrubs are provided for this role
• Free parking is available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; candidates actively in the application process with an ETA to apply will also be considered
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring — AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience required
• Required antepartum skills: NST, OCT, sterile vaginal and speculum exams, obstetrical triage, external fetal heart monitoring (EFM), reflex/edema/clonus assessment
• Required fetal monitoring skills: external and internal fetal monitoring, recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Required IV and medication skills: peripheral IV placement and maintenance, infusion pumps, blood and blood product administration, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, prostaglandins, and antihypertensives
• Required L&D skills: assist with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, circulate for C-section, recover C-section patients, sterile vaginal exam, hemorrhage/shock management
• Required neonatal and newborn care skills: APGAR scoring, ID/security banding, radiant warmers/thermoregulation, newborn assessment, metabolic screening, neonatal abstinence syndrome, newborn hypoglycemia, and discharge teaching
• Required postpartum skills: fundus/lochia/perineum care, episiotomy/incisional care, Foley catheter insertion, wound assessment, and care for patients following vaginal delivery, C-section, couplet care, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Required pain management skills: epidural anesthesia monitoring, pain assessment and management
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
