American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at a 5-time Magnet-recognized, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of recent PCU/telemetry experience and both MO/KS (or compact) RN licenses in hand.

Details

• Night shift position, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a 456-bed tertiary care hospital
• Patient population includes pulmonary, wound, urology, general cardiac, general neuro, and general renal diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, with occasional flex to 1:6
• Charting via Epic EMR
• Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period (any combination of Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling is not available
• Navy scrubs required

Requirements

• Active RN license in both Kansas and Missouri, or a compact license, must be in hand at time of consideration — willingness to float between facilities in both states is required
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/telemetry specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
• Required skills: dysrhythmia interpretation, telemetry monitoring, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line management, IV insertion, heparin and PCA protocols, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), non-invasive airway management, oxygen face mask use, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound VAC
• Preferred skills: cardiac telemetry, management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response teams, feeding tube care, renal failure management, CVA care, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, surgical drain management, and tracheostomy management
• 2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor-level or above, the second may be a charge RN; both must have worked with the candidate within the past year
• SSN required for consideration
