American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Neuro-Telemetry PCU position at a teaching hospital and designated stroke center, requiring NIHSS certification and prior intermediate care experience.

Details

• Work in a 36-bed Neuro-Telemetry Progressive Care Unit (PCU) serving as the facility's designated IMC stroke unit
• Patient population includes stroke, TIA, heart failure, sepsis, syncope, AKI, chest pain, and other general intermediate diagnoses
• RN-to-patient ratio of 1:4
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• 12-hour day shifts, 7A–7P, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Floating to sister CTU unit at the same patient ratio
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of PCU or intermediate care experience, with most recent experience within the last year
• Proficiency in telemetry rhythm interpretation
• Experience managing hemodynamic drips including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Neo, Nitro, and Amiodarone (titrating to off)
• Experience with heated high-flow oxygen and TR bands (post-cath care)
• One professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• This is the hospital's designated intermediate stroke unit — candidates must be comfortable detecting and escalating neurological changes
• Unit is supported by CNAs, a charge nurse, phlebotomy, RT 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, intensivist 24/7, and telemetry monitoring technicians
• HUC/receptionist coverage available 7A–7:30P only; no overnight receptionist support
• Facility orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental unit orientation provided
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Free on-site parking available
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must be separated for at least 1 year before being considered
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
