American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro-Telemetry PCU position at a teaching hospital and stroke center, requiring NIHSS certification and prior PCU/IMC experience.

• Works on a 36-bed Neuro-Telemetry Progressive Care Unit (PCU/IMC), serving as the designated intermediate stroke unit for the facility
• Patient population includes stroke, TIA, heart failure, sepsis, syncope, AKI, chest pain, and other general intermediate diagnoses
• RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4
• Uses Epic (EMR experience required) and Encompass for charting
• IV pumps: Baxter (transitioning to Alaris in 2026); medication dispensing via Omnicell; monitoring via Philips MX-40s
• 12-hour day shifts, 7A–7P, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back responsibilities
• May float to the sister CTU unit, which shares the same patient ratio

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/IMC or neuro-telemetry nursing experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Experience detecting and escalating neurological changes required
• Proficiency managing hemodynamic drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Neo, Nitro, Amiodarone) with titration to off
• Telemetry rhythm interpretation experience required
• Familiarity with heated high-flow oxygen therapy and TR bands (post-cath care) required
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• This is the hospital's designated IMC stroke unit within a teaching hospital that also holds Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations (no trauma designation)
• Unit support includes CNAs, a charge nurse, phlebotomy, telemetry monitoring techs, RT (24/7), hospitalists (24/7), and intensivists (24/7); a unit receptionist/HUC is available days only (7A–7:30P)
• Orientation includes facility-level NEO plus 2 days of departmental unit orientation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Royal blue scrubs required
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates who previously held a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
