American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Surgical Oncology position at a cancer hospital and research center, requiring at least 2 years of experience and current ACLS certification.

Details

• Mixed-acuity PCU and Med/Surg unit specializing in surgical oncology at a cancer hospital and research center
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses spanning surgical oncology (breast, thyroid, melanoma), hepatobiliary (liver, pancreas, spleen, biliary tract, neuroendocrine), colorectal (colon, rectal), and plastics (reconstructive breast cancer or sarcoma)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio goal of 1:4, with potential for 1:5 depending on unit needs
• Special procedures include chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, oncologic emergencies, cytokine release syndrome management, insulin drips, and heparin drips
• Strong unit focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
• Charting via Epic (experience required)
• 16-week contract with a rotating day/night schedule (D/N or nights); shift assignments are reviewed every 4 weeks based on staffing needs
• Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs
• No set or blocked scheduling is offered
• Night shift hours: 19:00–07:30 (3x12)

Requirements

• Active OH or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• PCU-level nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy certification is preferred
• Orientation consists of the first week Mon–Fri on day shift, followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
• Candidates may submit self-schedule preferences, which are considered before the final schedule is posted
• All requested time off must be disclosed at the time of initial submission
• No required break between assignments when changing representation at this facility (does not apply to Sterile Processing Techs)
