American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Oncology unit position caring for adult solid tumor patients, with telemetry skills and a minimum of 2 years of experience required.

Details

• Hospital-based Medical Oncology unit caring for adult and geriatric patients across all solid tumor cancer types
• Patient population includes a wide range of diagnoses including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, as well as patients undergoing antineoplastic chemotherapy
• Unit also supports patients through new diagnosis, active treatment, and end-of-life transition
• Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but may be 1:5 based on unit needs
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30) on a rotating day/night contract — scheduling is assessed every 4-week period and may include nights or a mix of shifts
• Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs — no set or blocked scheduling is offered
• Self-scheduling requests are submitted prior to the final schedule being posted
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation are utilized on this unit
• Charting is performed in Epic (experience required)
• Floating required to other Med/Surg Oncology units

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills required
• ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Oncology experience preferred but not required

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of the first week Mon–Fri on day shift, followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
• Unit maintains a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
• All time-off and scheduling requests should be submitted upfront for consideration
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years are required for consideration, along with a full 7-year work history with all gaps explained
• No break-in-service required between assignments when changing representation at this facility (excluding Sterile Processing Techs)
