American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy position at a Level I Trauma Teaching Hospital, requiring at least 2 years of experience and a DC RN license.

Details

• Endoscopy unit within a 228-bed Level I Trauma and Teaching Hospital
• RN functions in a dual capacity: preoperative care (IV initiation, assessment, and patient education) on assigned days and as a circulating nurse in the endoscopy suite on other scheduled days
• Patient ratios: 1:2 overall, 1:3 in the preoperative area, and 1:1 as circulating nurse
• Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• No weekend requirements
• Block schedule can be accommodated
• Floating between like units is required
• No on-call requirements
• Charting system: Cerner Sorian (1st generation)

Requirements

• Active DC RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of endoscopy RN experience required
• Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide preoperative nursing care including IV initiation, patient assessment, and patient education on assigned days
• Serve as a circulating nurse in the endoscopy suite on other scheduled days, ensuring safe and efficient patient-centered care
• Royal blue scrubs required
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Parking is the traveler's responsibility; options include street meters ($2.00/hr), or pre-paid hospital parking ($3.50/day, $17.25/week, or $69/month) available through the Cashier's Office
• The facility is accessible via public transportation — nearest Metro stop is Shaw/Howard University on the Green and Yellow lines; bus routes 70, 71, 90, 92, and 96 also serve the area
