Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week ICU travel assignment at a Level II Trauma facility, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and active ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

• Acute care ICU setting at a Level II Trauma facility
• 33-bed ICU unit with an average daily census of 16 patients
• Patient population includes trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases
• Adult nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3
• RNs are required to titrate drips, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
• RNs must read, interpret, and document cardiac monitor strips; GE monitor brand used with telemetry tech oversight
• Respiratory support ranges from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
• Charting via Epic EMR
• 12-hour night shifts (1830–0630)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required, primarily to PCU and occasionally Med/Surg, with ratios of 1:4–1:5 on those units
• Minimum of 2 holidays falling within the contract period are required
• If placed on call and called back in, arrival within 30 minutes is required
• Nurse aides available based on census for 1:1 sits or floor assistance; Healthcare Support Tech on-site 3 days/week (Mon–Fri, 0800–1630)

Requirements

• Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Active certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — pending certifications not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Experience titrating drips (cardiac, insulin, sedation) required
• Ability to read, interpret, and document cardiac monitor strips required
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Valid driver's license required for consideration (used to verify residence outside the 50-mile radius)
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Unit orientation consists of 1 shift
• RNs must pass an open-book skills exam (pass/fail, 90% required) administered on Wednesdays during orientation — failure to pass results in contract termination
• Self-scheduling is available for core staff; travelers are added into the schedule
• Block scheduling is not approved unless it is weekends only
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year are not eligible — candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront and may not exceed 7 days per 13-week contract; no additional RTO will be approved after consideration
