American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Behavioral Health position at a Magnet-designated pediatric psychiatric hospital, requiring at least 2 years of recent specialty experience and active MO or compact licensure.

• Acute inpatient pediatric psychiatric hospital setting — 46-bed Magnet-designated facility
• Pediatric Behavioral Health unit serving child and adolescent patients
• Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:12 on days, nights, and weekends; RNs oversee medication passes and overall unit management while Behavioral Health Techs provide direct patient observation and documentation
• Each RN is assigned to one of four units, supported by Behavioral Health Techs staffed per physician order at ratios of 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, or 1:4
• Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00–19:30
• Weekend requirement: every Sunday, every Friday, or every other Friday shift
• No on-call or floating requirements
• Charting via Epic (experience preferred)
• Free parking on-site

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license (both Kansas and Missouri licenses must be in hand at time of consideration)
• Current BLS certification required
• MANDT patient restraint certification required (can be obtained on-site if not already certified)
• CPI or MANDT certification must already be held for initial consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience in pediatric behavioral health required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no gap in employment greater than 90 days in the past year
• Experience managing a 1:12 patient ratio required
• Missouri Children's Division background check (MoVechs) required — a multi-step state background check process that takes a minimum of 3 weeks to clear and requires active candidate participation
• 2 professional references required: one from a supervisor level or above, and one from a charge RN or above, both from within the past year
• Pending licenses are not accepted

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include medication administration, overall unit oversight, and coordination with Behavioral Health Techs who directly observe and document on patients
• Preferred clinical experience includes treatment of anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders, depressive disorders, eating disorders, PTSD, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, self-injurious behavior, substance use, suicidal behavior, and trauma-related disorders
• Preferred skills include de-escalation techniques, crisis intervention, managing assaultive behavior, behavior management, psychoeducation, use of seclusion, voluntary/involuntary commitment, and emergent chemical restraints
• Trauma Informed Care Training and Zero Suicide Training are required and provided on-site
• MoVechs application must be submitted within 1 week of contract start; candidates must be responsive and complete all required documentation promptly to avoid cancellation or a delayed start
• RN scrub color is navy blue
• RTO maximum is 7 days for the duration of the contract
• Block scheduling is not available
• Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are not eligible for this position
