American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with 2+ years of experience for a 13-week night shift travel assignment at an acute care hospital, covering a broad range of specialties including NICU, MICU, Peds, and ER.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting covering ER and all inpatient floors
• Patient population includes NICU Level IIB, MICU, Peds, Adults, and Geriatrics; also covers PACU treatments and overnight oximetry
• Handles approximately 25–28 treatments per 8-hour shift
• RT equipment includes Drager V500, Hamilton, ReVel, V60s, Vapotherm, and EPOC
• Charting via Epic (experience preferred)
• Primary shift is nights, 7p–7a with 12-hour shifts
• Self-scheduling; travelers are last to sign up and expected to remain flexible to fill scheduling gaps
• Block scheduling and special scheduling requests are not accepted
• Every other weekend required (Nights: Friday and Saturday)
• May be asked to participate in the holiday rotation
• Travelers are first to float; floating throughout the hospital and potentially to sister facilities in Nampa (~14 miles west) and Boise (~10 miles east) may be required, including mid-shift floats with a minimum 60-minute notice
• Optional call/standby via a text-based pickup list with a 30-minute response time

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience required
• RRT credential required (CRT not accepted)
• Active certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and S.T.A.B.L.E.; NRP required for NICU assignments
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Comfort floating between all specialties including ICU, MICU, Med-Surg/Tele, and ER
• Level II NICU experience preferred, including comfort going to deliveries and initiating CPAP
• Active state license required at time of consideration; pending licensure not accepted — license required if applicable
• Driver's license required for consideration
• 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include arterial blood gases (radial and brachial), all respiratory treatments, and management of respiratory equipment
• Intubation is assist-only; independent intubation is not required
• Intensivists, hospitalists, and anesthesia are in-house 24/7; eICU coverage is available at night
• Shift supervision is provided by a charge/supervisor on both day and night shifts; a department manager is also available as a resource
• Night shift staffing drops to 4–5 RTs after 11 PM
• Orientation consists of 1–2 preceptor shifts, typically one day covering NICU/General and one day covering ICU
• Any color scrubs are acceptable; attire must be clean and professional
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former permanent employees must have been separated for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
• RTO requests should be submitted to the manager in advance
