American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position on a Renal Unit, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a willingness to float across multiple regional facilities.

Details

• Work setting is an acute care hospital with 207 licensed beds, designated as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
• Assigned to the 3N Medical Telemetry (Renal) Unit, a 31-bed floor
• Patient population includes end-stage renal disease, peritoneal dialysis (PD), fluid overload, sickle cell, diabetes mellitus, altered mental status, cellulitis, diabetic ulcers, pancreatitis, and behavioral health diagnoses
• RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5–6, with critical surge ratios up to 1:7–8
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating is required to all units within scope at the home facility, as well as to other facilities within the assigned regional division — candidates who are not willing to float to regional facilities should not apply
• EMR is Epic; Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors are used on the unit
• Skills required include cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT and Dobhoff placement, PEG tube care, drain/tube management (Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, Foley), PCA pumps, and medication drip management (cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, IVF)

Requirements

• Active NC RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Candidate's permanent address must be located at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Unit support includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, a charge nurse, phlebotomy, an IV/VAT team (11 AM–7 PM and 11 PM–7 AM), respiratory therapy (24/7), hospitalist (24/7), and intensivist coverage
• Orientation consists of a new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Scheduling is on a 6-week cycle
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any missed contracted hours must be made up at the end of the contract
• Scrub color is navy
• Parking is free
• First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered
• Candidates who have previously held a permanent position with an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
