American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Stepdown position requiring 2 years of pediatric cardiac stepdown experience, prior travel experience, and an OH or Compact RN license in hand.

Details

• Pediatric Stepdown unit in a children's hospital setting
• Patient population includes cardiac defects (both medical and surgical), post-op cardiac cath, and post-CTICU patients, as well as heart and lung transplant patients
• Specialized procedures include tracheostomy/ventilator management, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), inotrope administration, and post-op catheterization care
• Charting system: Epic (required)
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Floating to different units is a requirement and an emphasis at this facility
• Local candidates are not eligible for this position (60-mile radius rule applies)

Requirements

• Active OH or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a pediatric cardiac stepdown setting (hard requirement)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a pediatric hospital (hard requirement)
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in cardiovascular skills including post-cardiac catheterization care and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Experience with IV vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, and pediatric dosage calculations
• Experience with respiratory care including tracheostomy care, ventilated patient management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and chest tube management
• Experience with central line care, PICC line management, TPN/lipids, and blood product administration
• 2 supervisor/manager-level references required for consideration (charge nurse references are not accepted)

Additional Information

• Preferred skills include management of dysrhythmias, Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD/RVAD) experience, and IV vasopressor administration
• Candidates must not have worked permanently at this facility within the past 2 years
• Teaching hospital environment within a large children's hospital system
• Attendance and punctuality are strictly enforced at this facility
