American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (PCU) position requiring cardiac/cardiothoracic experience, Epic proficiency, and availability for a rotating day/night schedule with every-weekend commitment.

Details

• Miller 3 PCU (Progressive Care Unit) — a cardiac progressive care stepdown unit with telemetry and surgical focus
• Cardiac, cardiothoracic, and vascular patient population, including post-op open and closed heart surgery patients
• 12-hour rotating day/night shifts
• Every-weekend schedule required — no block schedules permitted for any reason
• Floating to like units is required
• Epic EMR is used on this unit

Requirements

• Active RN license — VT or compact state license accepted; NY license candidates will be reviewed with proof of pending licensure included
• Minimum 2 years of total RN experience, with at least 1 year of unit-specific (PCU/IMC) experience required
• Large trauma level 1 facility experience within the past year is required
• Cardiothoracic and vascular nursing experience required
• Post-op Day 1 open and closed heart (CABG) experience required
• Cardiac nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — NIHSS must be obtained prior to start
• PCCN certification preferred
• Candidates without A-line experience may be considered if they have post-op open heart (CABG) Day 1 experience
• Two professional references required — at least one from a nurse manager or supervisor within the past 6 months, and one from within the past year of employment
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• 16-week assignment with the possibility of extension up to 32 weeks
• Bi-weekly Monday orientations — next available orientation is June 1
• Public transportation is not accessible in this area — a personal or rental vehicle is strongly recommended
• Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires from November through April
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility (measured by straight line) are considered local; those 51–100 miles away qualify for a travel rate
• Any employment gaps exceeding 90 days must be explained in your work history
• This is an interview-to-offer (IVS) position
