American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (PCU) position on a cardiac progressive care stepdown telemetry/surgical unit, requiring cardiothoracic and vascular experience with a commitment to an every-weekend schedule.

Details

• Miller 3 PCU (Progressive Care Unit) — a cardiac progressive care stepdown unit with telemetry and surgical focus
• Patient population includes post-operative cardiac and surgical patients, including open and closed heart surgery (Day 1 post-op)
• Floating required to like units
• 12-hour night shifts, working every weekend (Monday through Sunday schedule)
• No block schedules permitted for any reason
• Epic EMR used on the unit

Requirements

• Active RN license — VT or Compact license accepted; NY license accepted with proof of pending licensure included
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in a PCU or like unit
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and NIHSS (NIHSS must be obtained prior to start); PCCN preferred
• Large trauma level 1 hospital experience required within the past year
• Cardiothoracic and vascular experience required
• Post-op Day 1 open and closed heart surgery experience required
• Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years required (non-negotiable)
• Two professional references from a Nurse Manager and/or Supervisor required — at least one from within the past 6 months and one from within the past year
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Candidates without A-line experience may be considered if they have post-op CABG (open heart) Day 1 experience

Additional Information

• Bi-weekly orientations held on Mondays; next available orientation is 4/20
• All employment gaps of 90 days or more must be explained
• Complete work history is required, including bed count, EMR used, and facility type
• Public transportation is not accessible in this area — a personal or rental vehicle is strongly recommended
• Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires from November through April
• This is a 16–32 week assignment
