American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Direct Observation Unit (Telemetry) position at a Level I Trauma facility in Chandler, AZ, requiring a minimum of 2 years of recent telemetry experience and an AZ or Compact RN license.

Details

• 16-bed Observation Unit that functions as an extension of the Emergency Department within a Level I Trauma, acute care hospital setting
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts
• Every 3rd weekend required
• Holiday rotation with core staff; must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Common patient diagnoses include chest pain/r/o MI, post heart cath (no sheaths), stable pre-CABG, post IR and Endo procedures, and non-titration Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Labetalol drips
• No vents, BiPAP, or CPAP on this unit
• Charge Nurse available 24/7; PCTs staffed per census for primary care; Hospitalist covers call; RT and Pharmacy available 24/7
• Cerner EMR used in this position
• Travelers are first to float and may be assigned to any tele/med-surg floor, including a sister facility (Mercy Gilbert)
• 2-day floor-specific orientation upon start

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry/observation RN experience required; experience must be recent (within the past 6 months)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — all must be active; pending certifications not accepted
• Strong critical thinking skills required
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; a current driver's license is required for consideration to verify permanent address
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Additional Information

• Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam (Relias) prior to offer confirmation; a maximum of 2 attempts are allowed
• A pass/fail simulation lab on sterile technique (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) is administered on the first day of orientation
• Candidates who do not pass either exam within the allowed attempts will be ineligible for this and related facilities for a minimum of 6 months
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past 12 months; candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
