American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring cardiac expertise including drip titration, sheath removal, and telemetry monitoring on a night shift schedule.

Details

• Inpatient Med/Surg Telemetry unit (9C) in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes chest pain, CAD, PVD, arrhythmias, DM, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, HTN, MI, renal failure, PE, CHF, GI bleed, syncope, and potential med/surg overflow (e.g., sepsis, CVA, COVID+)
• Specialized procedures include pre/post cath lab care, PPM/AICD, ablations, vascular surgeries (CEAs, fem-pops), titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Heparin), and bedside sheath pulling
• Equipment used includes telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacs
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
• Float to all other inpatient units is required
• Every other holiday required
• Specific scheduling requests (e.g., block scheduling) cannot be accommodated

Requirements

• Active Louisiana RN license or Compact RN license with Louisiana as primary state required
• Current BLS certification (AHA only) required
• Telemetry certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with CABG, chest tubes, post-angiogram/MI/cardiac cath care, and sheath removal
• Skills required: port accessing, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line care and management, IV insertion, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, isolation precautions, and wound care/management
• Candidates must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible

• Upon accepting an assignment, you may be assigned to an Emergency Team by your unit manager, which may require remaining at or returning to the facility during an emergency event — candidates uncomfortable with this expectation should not apply

• Local candidates residing within 65 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
