American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab position at a Level II Trauma hospital in Illinois, requiring prior cath lab experience and the ability to manage on-call responsibilities.

Details

• Cardiac Cath Lab in an acute care, Level II Trauma hospital setting
• Facility has 2 cath labs and 6 pre/post beds, averaging 3 caths and 2 angios per day
• Patient population includes STEMI, stroke, drain placement, line placement, heart caths, peripheral angios, IVC placement, and temporary pacemaker insertion
• Day shift, 4x9-hour shifts (0700–1530) with call
• On-call required 2–3 weeknights per week, every 3rd weekend, and 2 holidays per year
• Floating is rare and does not include taking a patient assignment
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• Philips monitoring equipment used on the unit

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required; must be active at time of consideration — pending certifications are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Previous cath lab experience is required
• Ability to read telemetry strips and titrate drips required
• Strong working knowledge of IV medications required
• Experience with peripheral angio, IR, and neuro intervention cases preferred
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Negative drug screen required — facility is a drug-free campus

Additional Information

• Orientation is approximately 1 week (4 shifts)
• A charge nurse is present each shift and may take an assignment
• Cath Lab Techs are available on the unit
• Hospital scrubs are provided
• Local candidates are welcome to apply; clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility may be subject to a local pay rate
• 13-week assignment
