American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center in Sheboygan, WI, requiring at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

• 12-hour day shifts (0245–1515), 36 hours per week
• 18-bed Med/Surg unit at a 101-licensed-bed Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
• Patient population includes oncology, post-surgical (bowel, GU, CBI), cellulitis, GI bleeds, CHF, COVID/TB overflow, and outpatient infusions (antibiotics/fluids); some pediatric patients (>1 yr) are on the floor but travelers will not be assigned to their care
• Day shift patient ratio: 1:4–5
• Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend
• Holiday rotation required (every other)
• Floating to other Med/Surg units and ED boarding holds; travelers float first
• Epic EMR (experience preferred)
• Alaris and Pyxis equipment used
• Centralized telemetry monitoring with tele tech support

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license currently in hand
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience, with most recent experience within the last year
• Proficiency with chest tubes, IV skills, port/central line management, and knowledge of CPAP/BiPAP/Airvo required
• Stable trach management preferred
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Chemo certification not required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Orientation is 1–2 days based on candidate comfort level
• Unit support includes CNAs, a charge nurse with a partial assignment, 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist coverage, RRT/Code Blue team, phlebotomy services, IV/VAT team available Mondays and Thursdays, and weekday OT/PT/ST (limited on weekends)
• RNs are responsible for drawing labs from central lines
• COVID vaccination required
• Any color scrubs acceptable; professional appearance required
