American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring at least 2 years of telemetry/PCU experience and prior completion of at least one travel assignment.

Details

• 13-week contract with a 36-hour work week (three 12-hour day shifts per week)
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a hospital setting
• Telemetry/progressive care patient population in an 18-plus bed unit
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS — must be issued by the American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of current experience in an 18-plus bed telemetry or progressive care unit required
• Must have completed at least one 13-week travel assignment prior to applying
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN or ASN) required
• Must pass an on-site Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test prior to starting the assignment
• English fluency required (speak, read, write)

Additional Information

• Provides direct patient care using the nursing process, including assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs
• Coordinates care through collaboration with patients, families, and the broader healthcare team
• Responsible for clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel
• Administers medications and treatments as prescribed and documents according to policy
• Identifies and addresses patient and family learning and discharge needs throughout the episode of care
• The on-site BCA test is administered on the first day of orientation; candidates have one opportunity to re-test if they do not pass initially — a second failure will result in contract termination
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Former permanent staff of this health system must wait one year before being considered as a traveler
• Must be a team player, flexible, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
