American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Oncology/Telemetry position at a cancer hospital, caring for solid tumor oncology patients across all stages of their cancer journey.

Details

• Medical oncology unit (17 James) within a cancer hospital and research center
• Cares for adult and geriatric patients with solid tumor cancers including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, esophageal, and patients undergoing antineoplastic chemotherapy
• Unit supports patients across the full cancer care spectrum — from new diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life transition
• Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
• Patient ratio goal is 1:4, though 1:5 may occur based on unit needs
• Rotating Day/Night 12-hour shifts (7p–7:30a), with scheduling assessed every 4-week period
• Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs
• Floating required to other Med/Surg Oncology units
• Uses Epic EMR
• Requires telemetry monitoring and interpretation

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills required
• ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred

Additional Information

• Orientation begins with the first week on Monday–Friday day shifts, followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
• Self-scheduling requests are submitted by the traveler prior to the unit balancing and posting the final schedule — no blocked or set scheduling is available
• If accepting a rotating Day/Night contract, shift assignments (nights or mixed) are based on department priorities and assessed each 4-week scheduling period
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration
• All time-off and scheduling requests must be disclosed upfront
• No break between assignments is required to change representation at this health system (except for Sterile Processing Techs)
