American Traveler is seeking an experienced Psychiatric RN for a 13-week travel nursing assignment in a remote Alaska facility serving patients across the lifespan, from pediatric to geriatric psychiatric populations.

Details

• Inpatient psychiatric unit serving adolescent, adult, geriatric, and pediatric psychiatric patient populations
• Care of patients from birth through elderly across a range of nursing modalities including med-surg, psych, rehab, and mother/baby
• Variable day and night shifts
• 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Active Alaska RN license in good standing required
• Current BLS certification required for the duration of the assignment
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Graduate of an NLN-accredited nursing program required
• Basic EKG skills required
• Proficient oral and written written communication skills required
• Date of birth (DOB) and Social Security Number (SSN) required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsible for assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care using the nursing process
• Supervises Psychiatric Technicians on duty
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes and applies age-specific and culturally sensitive considerations in all care delivery
• Candidates must arrive with documentation of the following competencies: IV/Central Line Site Care, Fall Precautions, Age-Specific Care, Abuse/Neglect, Pain Management, Restraints and Seclusion, End of Life Care, Blood Transfusions
• A medication calculation math test (adults and pediatrics) must be completed upon arrival prior to working the floor
• Orientation is held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
• The facility is located in a remote area of Alaska; hospital-provided housing is available and strongly recommended
• Housing consists of shared units with common spaces and private bedrooms; male- and female-only units are available; no dogs permitted; travelers coordinate housing directly with the facility
• The facility will reimburse economy-level flights to and from the assignment; a detailed flight and luggage receipt must be submitted to American Traveler for reimbursement
• Flight itinerary must be provided one week before the start date; the facility will assist with airport pickup upon arrival but does not provide return airport transportation
