American Traveler is hiring an LPN for a Med/Surg Tele unit with a primary neurology focus, requiring recent acute care experience and EKG competency testing.

Details

• 30-bed Med/Surg Tele unit with a primary focus on neurology
• Patient population includes neuro/neurosurgical, cardiac, renal, and general med/surg cases such as post-cath without intervention, stable arrhythmias, post-pacemaker, syncope, and chronic renal failure
• Drips include Heparin; oxygen therapies include stable trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen (max 6L); no ventilators
• Team nursing model: one RN and one LPN each carry 5 patients, supported by a tech per team and one HUC on days
• 1:10 nurse-to-patient ratio within the team nursing structure
• 12-hour day shifts
• Every third weekend required; every other holiday required
• Epic EHR used (training preferred)
• Local candidates accepted; radius rule of 50 miles applies

Requirements

• Current LPN license for the state of employment required (license required if applicable)
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 1 year of acute care or hospital experience required
• EKG competency testing required (only the EKG portion; medication portion is not required)
• Proof of address required for consideration
• Full SSN and DOB (MM/DD) required for consideration
• 1 supervisory reference required for consideration
• Nursys license verification required for consideration
• Copy of certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provides skilled nursing care including medication administration, wound dressing changes, phlebotomy, and asthma treatments under the supervision of an RN or physician
• Participates in the nursing process including assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Collects and documents objective and subjective patient data, focused observations (pain, treatment responses), and updates to the plan of care per unit charting guidelines
• EKG pass/fail test administered on the first day with two attempts allowed; study guides will be provided
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Charge nurse is intended to be out of ratio
