American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Medical ICU (CVICU) position in St. Louis, MO, requiring a minimum of 3 years of inpatient cardiac/medical ICU experience and active MO or compact RN licensure.

Details

• 13-week night shift contract in a 22-bed Cardiac Medical ICU
• Shift hours are 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Patient ratio is 1:2
• Patient population includes sepsis, post-cardiac arrest, ARDS, GI bleed, DKA, PE, renal failure, liver failure, pancreatitis, overdose, suicidal ideation, CIWA, and respiratory conditions such as pneumonia and COVID
• Specialized equipment in use includes Impella, IABP, Prismax CRRT, Zoll internal cooling device, and Arctic Sun
• EMR is Epic
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Travelers may be floated to stepdown units depending on staffing needs
• The facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center

Requirements

• Active RN license in Missouri or a compact state license eligible for Missouri endorsement
• Valid U.S. Social Security Number required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA required
• NIHSS certification required
• TNCC certification preferred
• Minimum 3 years of inpatient Cardiac Medical ICU experience required
• Experience recovering open-heart surgery patients directly from the OR (CVI) required
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• No employment gaps of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift/turn patients with assistance; push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs; pinch up to 15 lbs

Additional Information

• Preferred experience includes medical ICU patients with cardiac emphasis such as arrhythmias, STEMI, and post-arrest care
• Night shift travelers orient on day shift and must be available the entire orientation week
• Up to 5 days of RTO is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
• Only 1 holiday RTO request is permitted per assignment
• Black scrubs are required; hats, non-facility jackets/sweatshirts, and AirPods are not permitted
• Flu vaccination or an approved facility exemption is required for assignments running November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but may be subject to a reduced bill rate
• Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before a 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius is required
