American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC/IICU) position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-recognized teaching hospital in Columbia, SC, requiring critical care experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Intermediate Care / Intermediate ICU (IICU) unit within a 641-bed, Magnet-recognized regional community teaching medical center
• Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center — the only such facility in the Midlands region of South Carolina
• Adult patient population including trauma, medical, surgical, and neurology cases requiring monitoring or interventions every 1–2 hours
• Unit receives direct admissions, ICU transfers, and escalations from Rapid Response Teams
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Specialized equipment includes Hercules patient re-positioners, ceiling lifts, and Airtaps
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period
• Agency staff are required to float to other units or campuses as needed; floating is limited to areas where documented competencies exist
• Epic EMR with a minimum of 1 year of experience required

Requirements

• Active SC or compact (multistate) RN license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 completed travel assignment
• Previous IICU or ICU experience with a patient acuity of at least 1:3 required; progressive care settings (PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown) will be considered based on acuity
• First-time travelers are considered with a minimum of 3 years of specialty experience and critical care background
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry
• Medication management experience including titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Ventilator experience required
• Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

• Advanced specialty programs on site include cardiac care, stroke, and vascular services
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the contracted campus (Prisma Health Richland) to be eligible for this position
