American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a float pool PCU/Progressive Care Unit position requiring 2 years of recent specialty experience and both KS and MO (or compact) RN licenses in hand.

Details

• This is a float pool position — no home unit is assigned; clinician will rotate among approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments and may float to other metro campuses as needed
• Patient population includes cardiac, neuro, sepsis, renal failure, GI bleed, stroke, AFIB, ETOH, SI, wound care, and COVID patients
• Patient ratio is 1:5
• Requires proficiency in telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry unit monitoring, and pre/post cardiac cath care
• Preferred skills include sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, port access, blood product administration, and central line care/management
• Equipment used includes Virtual Nurses, 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Requires 8 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period, with shifts falling on a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Charge RN assignments may be required as needed per unit

Requirements

• Active RN license for both Kansas and Missouri (or a compact license) must be in hand at time of consideration — floating between departments, units, and facilities across state lines may be required
• Required certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Preferred certification: ACLS
• Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
• Experience in Med/Surg Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, and/or Neuro Stepdown settings required
• Pending licenses are not accepted — all licenses must be active and in hand
• 2 professional references required for consideration: at least one must be supervisor level or above; the second may be a charge RN — both must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include delivering progressive care nursing to a diverse patient population across multiple PCU and Med/Surg intermediate units
• Holiday shift coverage and charge nurse assignments may be required as needed
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days for the duration of the contract
• Block scheduling requests cannot be accommodated
• Travel partners are not accepted for this position
