American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab position at a Level II Trauma teaching hospital in Rapid City, SD, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Cath Lab experience with coronary, structural heart, complex PCI, and peripheral case experience.

• Work setting is a Cardiac Cath Lab within a 417-bed Level II Trauma, Level II Pediatric Trauma, and Primary Stroke and Chest Pain Center teaching hospital pursuing Magnet Status designation
• Lab includes 2 Cath Labs and 2 Hybrid Peripheral/OR rooms
• Patient population includes coronary artery disease, STEMI, cardiogenic shock, complex total occlusions, diagnostic Cath procedures, valvular disease, renal disease, carotid stenosis, limb salvage, peripheral stenosis, thrombosis, Impella insertion, LVAD insertions, and more
• 1:1 RN-to-patient ratio
• Devices used include IABP, Impella, Rotablator, and Penumbra
• Charting is done in Epic (required) and Epic Cupid (preferred); Alaris and Omnicell also used
• 12-hour night shifts, 48 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every 4th weekend
• On-call required 1–2 days per week from 1630–0600, and every 4th weekend from 1630 Friday through 0600 Monday
• No floating required

Requirements

• Active RN license issued by the South Dakota Board of Nursing or a valid Compact RN license
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience with coronary, structural heart, complex PCI, and peripheral cases required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in critical patient assessment, vasoactive and sedation drug administration, sterile technique, air management, Laser and Lithotripsy Atherectomy, and Cardiac Cath Lab and Peripheral IV skills
• Experience with IABP, Impella, Rotablator, and Penumbra devices required
• Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• 2 professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
• DOB and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Perform Cath Lab nursing care across a complex patient population including structural heart, coronary, and peripheral vascular cases
• Charge nurse coverage available Monday–Friday, 0600–1630
• Orientation consists of 4 days of 10-hour shifts
• Holiday coverage expected for approximately 1 holiday per assignment
• Time off requests must be approved by the unit manager
• Procedural scrubs are provided by the facility
• Free parking available on-site
• First-time travelers will be considered if they have substantial experience in coronary, structural heart, complex PCI, and peripheral cases
• Former permanent staff must wait 1 full year before returning as a traveler
