American Traveler is hiring an LPN for a Medical-Surgical night shift position at an acute care Magnet-recognized teaching hospital in Rochester, NY, requiring an active NY LPN license and Epic experience.

• Work in a Medical-Surgical unit (unit 5400) at a 528-bed acute care Magnet-recognized teaching hospital in Rochester, NY
• Patient population includes medical patients with COPD exacerbation, infections, failure to thrive, and social issues
• LPN works with their own patient assignment under RN support
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Night shift schedule: 1900–0700 (3x12-hour shifts)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday, as needed
• Floating within skillset required
• Epic EMR experience required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NY single-state LPN license required at start of assignment (NY is not a Compact state); license required if applicable
• Minimum 1 year of LPN experience
• Acute care experience within the last 2 years required
• Current BLS certification required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in vital signs, pain assessment, intake/output monitoring, isolation precautions, physical restraints, specimen labeling, and oxygen administration via nasal cannula
• Proficiency in medication administration (oral, IM, SQ, NG/G-tube, ear and eye drops), IV therapy with pumps, and blood glucose monitoring
• Proficiency in wound care basics (simple dressings, JP/Hemovac drains), Foley catheter insertion (male/female), and telemetry monitoring including 12-lead EKG
• Ability to float within skillset as needed
• All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include feeding tube management, telemetry monitoring, wound care, Foley catheter care, clean catch urine collection, and communication of patient status changes to RN/MD
• Hospital is affiliated with Cleveland Clinic and Roswell Park and is certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
