American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab position requiring at least 2 years of cath lab experience, PCI experience, and the ability to scrub cases.

Details

• Acute care setting in a Cardiac Cath Lab with 5 suites
• Patient population includes structural, PCI, EVARs, peripheral angio, pacemakers, stents, axillary, and coronary cases
• Cath Lab is currently staffed exclusively by RNs who are able to scrub — no cath lab techs on staff
• Charting system: Cerner and Merge (experience required)
• 8-hour day shifts with a 7am start time; high need on Mondays and Fridays
• On-call required: 1 weeknight per week (self-sign-up, begins when the department closes) and 1 full weekend every 5 weeks on a rotating schedule
• Holiday call coverage required; self-sign-up with assigned coverage if no one volunteers
• Call response time: 30 minutes
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• First to float; potential float to Interventional Radiology (IR) or Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) for admission assistance
• 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact/NLC) required; pending licenses not accepted
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab RN experience required
• PCI experience required
• Ability to scrub cases required
• Pacemaker experience highly preferred
• Procedural sedation experience preferred
• Cerner EMR experience required
• A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Additional Information

• Primary responsibilities include scrubbing cases, maintaining a sterile field, room turnover, patient transport, and documentation
• Charge nurse or resource staff available during regular hours for support
• Orientation is approximately 36–40 hours and varies based on individual skill set
• Hospital-provided surgical scrubs required
• Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
