American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical position at a Level I Trauma Magnet hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with 562 staffed beds
• Medical/Surgical unit with an average daily census of 22 patients
• Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to other units within scope as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Charting system: Cerner
• Scrubs: Any solid color
• Free parking with permit obtained during orientation

Requirements

• Active Illinois (IL) RN license currently in hand required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
• Orthopedic trauma experience required
• Experience with surgical drains required
• Cardiac monitoring skills: remote telemetry monitoring and use of Rapid Response Teams
• Gastrointestinal skills: colostomy care and feeding tube care/management
• Genitourinary/renal skills: pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• IV therapy skills: blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Medication administration experience: Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Neurological skills: spinal cord injury care
• Respiratory skills: CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen, pre/post thoracic surgery care, and tracheostomy management
• Professional skills: isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac management

• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• Schedule requests should be discussed with the manager; block scheduling may be accommodated
• RTO is ideally limited to no more than 5 days for the duration of the assignment
