American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Stepdown (MS/Tele) position requiring NIHSS certification and a dysrhythmia exam, working 12-hour night shifts on a 30-bed neuro-focused unit.

Details

• 30-bed MS/Telemetry unit with a primary focus on neurology
• Patient population includes neuro/neurosurgical, cardiac, renal, and med/surg cases — including post-cath without intervention, stable arrhythmias, post-pacemaker, syncope, and chronic renal failure
• Patients are often complex and borderline stepdown acuity, making stepdown background highly beneficial
• Drip administration includes heparin; IV BP medications may be administered
• Respiratory management includes stable trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen (max 6L); no ventilators
• Typical patient ratio is 1:5–6
• 12-hour night shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required
• EMR: Epic (training preferred)

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Neuro experience preferred, including NIHSS
• Stepdown experience is beneficial given patient acuity
• Must pass a dysrhythmia/EKG exam (study guide provided)
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Proof of address required for consideration (e.g., driver's license, voter registration card, federal tax return, military Form 2058, or W-2 from U.S. government)
• 1 supervisory reference required for consideration
• Full SSN and DOB (MM/DD) required for consideration

Additional Information

• Conducts patient assessments, develops and implements plans of care, and evaluates treatment effectiveness
• Serves as point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments and with family members or caregivers
• Clinically manages patients with multisystem conditions using evidence-based, patient-focused clinical judgment
• Manages care of patients with chest tubes and performs hemodynamic monitoring
• Pass/fail EKG test administered on the first day with two attempts allowed; study guides will be provided
• Navy blue scrubs required
