American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Telemetry position at a Level I Trauma facility in Arizona, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and Level I Trauma background.

Details

• Acute care setting on a 32-bed Neuro Telemetry unit
• Patient population includes CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, trached patients, brain tumors, and patients with psych comorbidities
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a)
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period
• Holiday coverage worked into permanent rotation
• Floating required to cardiac tele, tele overflow in ICU, and med-surg
• EMR: Cerner (WOWs)
• Central telemetry monitoring — EKG interpretation required
• Titrated drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, and Cardizem
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
• SWAT RN available for difficult IV access
• Charge nurses take a light patient assignment
• Nurse aides available on both day and night shifts (day: 4, night: 3)

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Level I Trauma experience required
• Ability to interpret EKGs and perform telemetry monitoring
• Driver's license required for consideration
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to offer confirmation (2 attempts allowed)
• Competency in sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is required

Additional Information

• Neuro experience is a plus
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility — driver's license is used to verify permanent address
• A pass/fail sterile technique skills assessment (SIMs Lab) covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is conducted on the first day of orientation
• Floor-specific orientation is 2 days
• Steel gray scrubs required
• Natural hair color and no facial piercings required; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• Bedside report is standard practice on this unit
• Travelers are expected to have their own vehicle
• High-turnover, fast-paced unit with an average LOS of 4–5 days
