American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg (Flex Pool) position requiring at least 2 years of experience, Epic proficiency, and telemetry skills, with night shift availability and every-other-weekend commitment.

Details

• Med/Surg unit within a 276-bed hospital setting
• Flex Pool position serving the Medical Surgical department
• Patient ratio of 1:6, with potential flex to 1:7 during unplanned staffing shortages
• Night shift schedule: 3x12s or 4x12s (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• On-call required on a PRN low-census basis
• Floating within scope to like units or sister facilities required
• Charting performed in Epic (experience required)
• Procedures and skills include telemetry monitoring, insulin administration, and rapid response

Requirements

• Active RN license — SC license or Compact license must be in hand prior to start; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
• Current AHA BLS certification required
• AHA ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or MS/Tele nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Telemetry, insulin management, and rapid response skills required
• SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
• All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed upfront; approval is subject to facility needs
• Orientation modules are completed prior to the start date
• Royal Blue scrubs are required
• Free parking is available on-site
• During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties; peak activity months are August and September
