American Traveler is seeking an LPN/LVN for a correctional facility setting in Illinois, requiring an active IL LPN license and CPR certification for a 13-week contract with mandatory float responsibilities.

Details

• Work is performed in a correctional healthcare facility
• Correctional unit serving an incarcerated patient population
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (11:00–23:30)
• Every other weekend (approximately 2 weekends per month) required
• Charting is performed using Cerner
• This is a mandatory float facility — all clinicians are required to float at the facility's discretion, potentially to units outside their primary area of competency and to other Cook County facilities within 50 miles
• Free parking available on a first-come, first-serve basis

Requirements

• Active Illinois LPN license required at time of consideration — license required if applicable
• Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing
• Current CPR/BLS certification required
• Proof of completed pharmacology/medication administration coursework for Practical Nurses in accordance with IDFPR standards (documentation required at time of consideration)
• 1 year of recent, full-time paid clinical experience in an acute care or ambulatory care setting preferred
• Willingness and ability to float to various units and Cook County facilities as needed
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required — no exceptions
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates

Additional Information

• Navy blue scrubs required
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 5 days per contract, with no more than 2 consecutive days off at a time
• No RTO will be approved on weekends, on holidays, or the day immediately before or after a holiday
• No special or block scheduling requests will be accommodated
• When floated outside of a clinician's primary area of competency, a team-based care model is utilized
• Clinicians may receive float notifications as little as 2 hours before their shift
• Holiday coverage is required — calling out on a holiday may result in contract cancellation
