American Traveler is hiring an LPN/LVN for a Medical-Surgical unit at a correctional facility in Illinois, requiring an active IL license and experience in acute or ambulatory care.

Details

• Work setting is a correctional health facility
• Medical-Surgical unit with a mandatory float policy — clinicians may be assigned to a variety of units across Cook County facilities, including outside their primary area of competency, at the facility's discretion
• Float assignments may be to locations up to 50 miles from the home facility, with as little as 2 hours' notice prior to shift
• Uses Cerner for charting; experience preferred
• Scheduled for day shifts (11:00–23:30), 3x12-hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend (2 weekends per month) required
• Free parking available on a first-come, first-serve basis

Requirements

• Active Illinois LPN license required at time of consideration (no pending licensure)
• Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing
• Current CPR/BLS certification required
• Proof of completed pharmacology/medication administration coursework for Practical Nurses per IDFPR standards (documentation required)
• 1 year of recent full-time paid clinical experience in an acute care or ambulatory care facility preferred
• Must be willing and able to float to any Cook County facility as needed
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required; no exceptions
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates

Additional Information

• This is a mandatory float facility — clinicians have no guaranteed home unit and may be floated to units outside their primary competency; a team-based model is used in those situations
• When floated outside primary competency, support is provided through a team-based care model
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 5 days per contract, with no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO will be approved on weekends
• No RTO is permitted on holidays or the day before or after a holiday
• No special scheduling or block scheduling requests will be accommodated
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Candidates living within 75 miles of the facility should inquire about local rate eligibility
