Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, with proficiency in ICP monitoring, ventilator management, and telemetry on a night shift schedule.

Details

• 26-bed Neuroscience and Surgical ICU (NSICU) within a comprehensive stroke center
• Patient population includes various neurological diagnoses including stroke, seizure, and critical care cases
• Staffing ratio is 2:1, occasionally 3:1
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (18:45–07:15)
• Schedule is based on unit needs with no block scheduling
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to other ICUs and intermediate units
• Skills utilized include ICP monitoring, ventilator management, and telemetry
• Special equipment includes EVD management, Zoll temperature management/Arctic Sun, and PCAs
• EMR: Epic (documentation); Pyxis (medication); SBAR (communication)
• 13-week contract with potential for extension beyond 13 weeks

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU or critical care nursing experience required
• Experience with stroke management, ICP management, seizure management, and titrating drips and invasive equipment strongly preferred
• EVD management experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Local candidates are accepted
• Orientation is 24 hours
• Scrubs are not provided; navy blue, white, or a combination of both is required
• RTO requests are not permitted after booking and cannot be arranged on-site; call-offs or additional RTO may result in contract cancellation
