American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Surgical Telemetry unit (nights) in Springfield, MO, requiring at least 1 year of telemetry experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

• 32-bed Surgical unit in a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and Level 2 Stroke Center hospital
• Cardiac/Med-Surg patient population, including post-trauma, surgical, and medical comorbidity cases
• Night shift, 19:00–07:00 (7 PM–7 AM)
• 13-week contract
• Patient ratios on nights estimated at 1:6–1:8
• Equipment includes Alaris pumps, telemetry monitors, and lift equipment
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• Weekend hours as required by the facility
• Rotational floating required
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license in Missouri or eligibility for MO licensure (MO or compact license required)
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient telemetry experience
• BLS certification from AHA required
• NIHSS certification required prior to start date (may be considered without, but must obtain before starting)
• 4 trauma credits required (or must be completed within the first two weeks of the assignment)
• ACLS from AHA preferred
• Inpatient experience only; no gaps in employment of 90+ days within the past 12 months
• Experience and competence in drug titration required
• Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the shift; push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs.; kneeling, crouching, and crawling minimally required
• Valid U.S. Social Security Number required

• Responsibilities include direct patient care for all age groups encompassing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Monitors and coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort
• High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids is inherent to this role
• Night shift orients on day shift and candidates must be available the entire orientation week
• Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but will receive a reduced bill rate
• Candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts at this facility; after that, a 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius is required
• RTO of up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; RTO will not be approved during the first week, and only 1 holiday RTO request is permitted per assignment
• Scrub color required: black; torn clothing, open-toed shoes, and non-scrub attire are not acceptable
• Preferred trauma experience (inpatient only)
