American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Orthopedic unit at a Level I Trauma facility in Illinois, requiring at least 2 years of clinical experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• 43-bed orthopedic unit in an acute care, Level I Trauma hospital setting, all private rooms
• Patient population includes a wide variety of med/surg, post-operative orthopedic, and trauma/fracture cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4–5 on day shifts and 1:5–6 on night shifts (12-hour)
• PCTs are available on the unit at a 1:7–8 ratio
• Unit is equipped with house-wide telemetry using Philips monitors; RNs are expected to monitor their own patients
• CPAP and heated high-flow oxygen equipment is available on the unit
• Charts using Epic EMR
• 12-hour night shifts
• Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday nights)
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Travel RNs are first to float to similar med/surg floors when needed

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licensure not accepted
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required; must be active at time of consideration — pending certifications not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of clinical RN experience required
• Post-operative surgical care and general med/surg experience required
• 2 references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
• Must pass a drug screen for all panels prior to starting; facility is a drug-free campus

Additional Information

• Charge RN present on every shift; house supervisor available 24/7
• Orientation consists of approximately 12 hours; orientation hours are non-guaranteed
• Scrubs of any color are acceptable; professional appearance required, with tattoos and piercings covered
• Local candidates are welcome to apply; clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local pay rate
