American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Cardiac Telemetry/IMC travel assignment in Wisconsin, requiring at least 2 years of experience with post-procedural cath lab and cardiac surgical patients.

Details

• Work setting is an acute care, Level II Trauma hospital on a 29-bed Intermediate Care/Telemetry unit specializing in cardiac medical and surgical patients
• Patient population includes post-cath lab patients (stent, pacemaker, ICD, Watchman, MitraClip, TAVR), post-cardiac surgery (CABG, valve replacements), Afib, chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, syncope, and bradycardia with temporary pacemaker
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 on days through 2300 and 1:5-6 on nights after 2300; nurse aide support at 1:10 on days, 1:10-12 on PMs, and 1:15 after 2300
• RNs are required to titrate drips including Nitroglycerin, Heparin, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Lasix, Bumex, and Dobutamine (no vasopressors)
• A 24/7 central telemetry unit monitors all non-critical care patients and performs strip readings — RNs are not required to read their own strips
• Charting is done in Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Floating to other units may be required based on census
• No on-call or standby requirement outside of voluntary extra shifts
• Block scheduling is used based on unit needs; a Fri/Sat/Sun option is available

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license (must be active by start date)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (both AHA required)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Experience with post-procedural cath lab patients required
• Experience managing TR band compression devices and chest pain required
• Experience with post-cardiac surgical patients required
• Two professional references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years of relevant experience

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include titrating cardiac drips, managing post-procedural and post-surgical cardiac patients, and performing incentive spirometry (nebulizers, inhalers, CPAP, BiPAP, and Vapotherm are managed by 24/7 Respiratory Therapy)
• Charge RN takes a modified patient assignment
• Orientation consists of 1 shift of HR onboarding and 1 shift on the unit
• No scrubs are provided and no specific scrub color is required
• Candidates who previously worked for this health system as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date, and hospital approval is required
• Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which affects the travel pay rate
