Description

American Traveler is seeking a Chemo-Certified Oncology RN for an acute leukemia and hematology unit, requiring a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience and active ONS Chemo Certification.

Details

• Acute care oncology unit with a primary focus on newly diagnosed acute leukemia and hematology patients
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Target nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with a maximum of 1:5
• 12-hour day/night rotating shifts (7PM–7:30AM); shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
• Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs
• No set or blocked scheduling — self-schedule requests are accepted and considered before schedules are finalized
• Heavy emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
• Telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and use of Rapid Response Teams required
• Charting via Epic (experience required)
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral and PICC line management, feeding tube care, and starting IVs

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and ONS Chemotherapy Certification
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Med/Surg and telemetry experience required, including dysrhythmia interpretation
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of the first week on day shift (Mon–Fri), followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
• If accepting a day/night rotating contract, candidates may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination depending on department needs
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years are required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all employment gaps explained is required for consideration
• All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
• No break between assignments is required when changing representation at this facility (excluding Sterile Processing Techs)
