American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Level 1 Trauma Academic Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Night shift position, 6:30 PM–7:00 AM
• 20-bed unit split across two pods (5A and 5B), functioning as a Transitional Care Unit
• General medical patient population with diagnoses including CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/GI/respiratory conditions, CIWA patients, infections, and wounds; any service line may admit, including general surgery
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Telemetry monitoring via bedside monitors with a central monitor at the nurses' station
• Required non-titrating drips include Heparin, Lasix, and Protonix; experience with Cardizem and Amiodarone is preferred
• EMR is Epic; IV pumps are Alaris; medication dispensing via Omnicell
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating within scope of practice throughout the hospital may be required
• 50% of assigned contract holidays must be worked

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Proficiency in trachs, chest tubes, IV starts, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, and central line blood draws required
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required
• Level 1 Trauma and academic teaching hospital experience preferred
• One professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Additional Information

• Unit support includes one CNA per pod, a shared charge nurse who may take patients, phlebotomy available 24/7, and respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and resident coverage around the clock
• SimpliFi clinical interview required as part of the hiring process
• Orientation includes a facility new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 shifts of on-unit orientation
• Schedules are built in 6-week increments; travelers are placed into open slots
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved during the contract
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Free parking is available on-site
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• Must be separated from any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility for at least 1 year following a permanent employment position before being eligible
