American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Behavioral Health (Psychiatric) position requiring a MD or Compact RN license, CPI certification, and the ability to work nights with every-other-weekend availability.

Details

• Work in an inpatient Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) within a hospital setting
• 7-bed locked unit with 5 adult beds and 2 pediatric beds
• Patient population spans pediatric through geriatric age ranges
• Diagnoses include acute psychosis, hallucinations, suicidal/homicidal ideation (SI/HI), major depressive disorder, personality and mood disorders, and voluntary/involuntary commitment cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3, up to 1:4
• Average daily census of 7 patients
• Procedures include mechanical, physical, and chemical restraints, including use with adolescents age 13+
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:30–08:00)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the specialty, including inpatient BHU, ED (behavioral health support only), and a secondary campus as needed
• Pre-scheduled on-call is not required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled

Requirements

• Active RN license for the state of Maryland (MD) — standard or compact — currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS and CPI
• Preferred certifications: PALS, ACLS, and CBH
• Minimum 1 year of behavioral health/psychiatric nursing experience required; 2 years preferred
• Candidates with 1 year of experience must demonstrate strong BH/psych skill set

• Provide direct nursing care to a diverse psychiatric patient population in a secured, locked inpatient unit
