American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric OR position at a children's hospital in Oakland, CA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of pediatric OR experience, a CA RN license, and Trauma Level I experience.

Details

• Pediatric Operating Room (OR) unit within a children's hospital setting
• Pediatric surgical patient population across a wide range of specialties including general surgery, ENT, neurology, orthopedics, urology, cardiovascular, gynecology, ophthalmology, plastics, and craniofacial/oral procedures
• Primary shift is 4x10-hour days (8:00–18:30), with occasional mid shifts (12:00–22:30)
• Weekend and possible holiday coverage required
• Floating may be required to a different department, unit, or facility within a 75+ mile radius if qualifications are met
• Epic EMR — experience required
• Pediatric cardiovascular procedures including ASD/VSD repair, PDA ligation, Tetralogy of Fallot repair, and ventricular assist device implant are among the OR cases performed
• Equipment used includes electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, cell saver, Hana Table, and Steris systems

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BSN required
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA) and PALS required; CNOR preferred
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric OR experience required
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience within the last 12 months required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Ambulatory OR experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Prior experience at a children's facility required — candidates without it will not be considered
• COVID vaccination and booster required — no exceptions
• Any prior employment with a University of California medical facility or its acquired facilities must be disclosed in employment history

Additional Information

• Candidates who have previously held a permanent position with a UC medical facility must have been separated for a minimum of 1 year before being eligible for consideration
• All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed prior to or at the time of offer — mid-contract RTO requests will not be accepted
• RTO is limited to 1 week total; requests exceeding 7 days require manager approval at time of offer
• Travel pairs are permitted but will generally not be placed on the same unit; married couples may not work on the same unit
• Preferred skills include cardiac monitoring, conscious sedation monitoring, peripheral IV insertion, wound management, laser safety, radiation safety, and malignant hyperthermia response
• Community hospital experience is preferred
