American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a mixed ICU position in Rapid City, SD, requiring Epic proficiency, TNCC certification, and a minimum of one prior travel assignment.

Details

• Mixed ICU setting with 39 beds divided into pods: MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU — travelers would not float to the CVICU side unless experienced in that specialty
• Complex ICU patient population including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases — heavy trauma volume
• Diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multi-system trauma
• Cardiac experience is preferred, including CABG/TAVR post-op (24–48 hrs); fresh open heart cases are typically reserved for permanent staff
• Patient ratios are acuity-dependent: 1:1, 1:2, or occasionally 1:3
• 12-hour day shifts, 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation
• No on-call requirements
• Floating is uncommon but possible to any adult floor, including Med/Surg or Telemetry at a 1:4 ratio
• Charting via Epic (required); Alaris infusion pumps (transitioning to Baxter) and Omnicell medication system also in use

Requirements

• Active RN license — SD state license or compact license with SD privilege required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC — candidates unwilling to obtain TNCC prior to start will not be considered
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (excluding travel experience) strongly preferred; candidates with at least 1.5 years of ICU experience plus significant RN experience outside of ICU may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency with IV medications including vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics; hemodynamic line management; proning; ventilator management; and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT strongly preferred
• Minimum one prior travel assignment required — first-time travelers will not be considered
• Must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility
• Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
• DOB and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of a hospital orientation, one 12-hour shift, and one 8-hour shift on the ICU
• Unit support includes 1–2 CNAs per unit, a mobility float aide, two charge RNs overseeing all ICUs, a resource nurse (staffing dependent), 24/7 respiratory therapy, phlebotomy for peripheral blood draws, and ICU charge RNs for midline placement
• Physician coverage includes 3 intensivists on days, 2 on nights, plus an APP overnight
• No RTO during holidays
• RTO of up to 7 days may be approved, but the contract must be extended to accommodate a full 13-week assignment; no RTO during the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks of August)
• Required scrub color: navy
• Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning to this facility as a traveler
