American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy & PACU position in Rapid City, SD, requiring at least 2 years of experience and advanced endoscopy skills including EUS, EBUS, and ERCP.

Details

• Hospital setting: Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma Center, Level II Pediatric Trauma, Primary Stroke and Chest Pain Center, and academic teaching hospital
• Unit includes 4 Endoscopy rooms, 20 Pre-Op bays, and 14 PACU bays
• Patient population includes upper and lower endoscopy (EGD, colonoscopy), advanced procedures (EUS, EBUS, ERCP), and pre/post recovery including Phase I and Phase II PACU with some ICU-level care
• Patient ratios: Endoscopy 1:1, Pre-Op 1:2, PACU Phase I 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity, PACU Phase II 1:2–3
• 8-hour variable shifts rotating through: 0630–1500, 0730–1600, 0830–1700, and 0900–1800
• Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend
• On-call required: one overnight shift per week (7p–7a) and every 3rd weekend; 15-minute response time required
• Floating may occur within Pre-Op, PACU, or floor as helping hands; travelers will not be floated to the Main OR as Primary RN
• Epic EMR experience required
• Additional equipment includes ION robot (robotic-assisted bronchoscopy), Omnicell, and Alaris

Requirements

• Active RN license — South Dakota or Compact state license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center
• Endoscopy experience required, including advanced procedures: EUS, EBUS, and ERCP
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
• DOB and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Nurses rotate through Endoscopy, Pre-Op, and PACU responsibilities
• Anesthesia team provides 100% of sedation; endoscopy tech support also available on unit
• On-call sleep accommodations available in the Pre-Op/PACU area and break room
• Orientation: 1 week (facility and unit)
• Holiday coverage expected for 2 out of 4 major holidays
• Time off requests require manager approval; low-census days may be volunteered without pay
• Scrubs are provided by the facility; free parking available
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Former permanent staff must wait 1 full year before returning as a traveler
