Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Psychiatric RN for an Emergency Psych Services department position in Maine, requiring at least 1 year of mental health nursing experience and a current ME or compact RN license.

Details

• Emergency Psychiatric Services department within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes individuals age 5 and up with psychiatric illnesses, including major depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorder, psychotic disorders, and patients seeking detoxification
• Some patients may also present with concurrent medical care needs
• Day shift, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
• Schedule requires flexibility to support 24/7 unit coverage

Requirements

• Active Maine (ME) or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
• Minimum 1 year of mental health nursing experience required
• Associate's degree (2-year) in Nursing required
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to manage stress and make sound decisions under pressure
• No previous employment with St. Mary's Regional Medical Center allowed
• Candidates must have a clean licensure history to be considered

Additional Information

• Responsible for direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process across all assigned areas
• Develops and periodically updates individualized, interdisciplinary plans of care
• Evaluates patient outcomes and identifies available community and facility resources
• Functions as an essential member of an interdisciplinary patient care team
• Candidates whose permanent address is within 50 miles of the facility will receive a reduced pay rate
• 13-week contract
