American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN specializing in Wound/Ostomy Care for a hospital-based position requiring a minimum of 5 years of experience and active WCC or WOCN certification.

• Hospital-based Wound Care unit setting
• Patients present with complex wound diagnoses including wound vacs, ostomy care, and management and treatment of varying types of complex wounds
• Specialized procedures include wound vac therapy, conservative debridement, and comprehensive ostomy management
• Uses Epic EMR and SBAR communication framework
• Day shift schedule: 5x8-hour shifts, 8:00–17:00
• No call, float, or weekend requirements
• Local candidates are accepted

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• WCC or WOCN certification required
• Minimum 5 years of RN experience required
• Hospital and pediatric work setting experience required
• Proficiency in colostomy and ileostomy care, including colostomy/ileostomy management, continence skin care, double barrel stoma, end stoma, loop with rod stoma, mucous fistula, and ostomy equipment selection
• Proficiency in identification and management of risk factors impacting skin integrity, including pressure ulcers, venous ulcers, necrotic debris, melanoma, cellulitis, and edema
• Proficiency in symptom management including alterations in skin and mucous membranes, altered mental status, constipation/diarrhea, depression/anxiety, fatigue/lethargy/weakness, pain management, and stomatitis
• Proficiency with ulcer risk assessment tools including Braden scale, and adult and pediatric prevention risk assessment tools
• Proficiency in wound and ulcer assessment and management including neuropathic, peripheral arterial, and pressure ulcers, as well as tunneling, undermining, venous status ulcer assessment, and ABI measurement
• Pressure ulcer staging experience required (Stages I–IV)
• Proficiency with wound treatments and dressings including alginates, autolytic and enzymatic debriding agents, foams, hydrocolloids, mechanical and sharp debridement, silver products, VAC therapy, wet-to-damp dressing changes, and wound cultures
• Professional skills required: G-tube/J-tube feeding and site care, infection control, isolation precautions, and patient/family teaching

• Orientation length varies depending on wound/ostomy and Epic experience
• Navy scrubs required; not provided by the facility
• ACLS, and additional wound and ostomy continence certifications are preferred but not required
• Preferred skills include ileal lavage and irrigation, female/male external catheters, Kock pouch and J-pouch management, burn wound care (1st–4th degree), hypoalbuminemia and nutritional status assessment, and electrical stimulation wound therapy
• RTO requests are not permitted after booking and cannot be worked out onsite; call-offs or additional RTO may result in contract cancellation
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required for consideration
